Pizza.com is a Pizza restaurant in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan,
is all set to provide this Robotic Waiter Service to their customers. This robot
is not imported from any other country, it is fully designed and manufactured in Pakistan. This robot is serving to its customers perfectly.
This robot was made by Syed Usama Aziz, an electrical
Engineer from NUST University of Pakistan. He is the son of the restaurant’s
owner and he is very much interested in Robotics field.
After completing his graduation from NUST in Electrical Engineering, he wanted to study further in the field of Robotics by going foreign country. His father who is the owner of the Pizza.com, told him to stay in Pakistan and try to prove himself here. Then he determined to follow his passion right here in Pakistan.
After completing his graduation from NUST in Electrical Engineering, he wanted to study further in the field of Robotics by going foreign country. His father who is the owner of the Pizza.com, told him to stay in Pakistan and try to prove himself here. Then he determined to follow his passion right here in Pakistan.
He started thinking that how to improve his father’s hotel, and
he suggested his father to about the whole serving process should be automated
to increase the efficiency by utilizing his skills and interests in robotics.
The cost of importing serving machines from other countries
would be very expensive for them. That’s why, Usama decided to prepare its
machine in Pakistan. It took 8 months to complete its project and about 0.4
million Pakistani Rupees (4 lac). Now Pakistan’s first robotic waiter is ready
to work.
This Robot is working very good. It is able to navigate to
the customer’s table, greet the customer, serve the meal and come back to the
counter. It can also find the hurdles in the path and avoid them to continue on
its way. Robots are artificial intelligence and they are limited in scope at
this moment.
Robot is currently in beta testing phase at Multan. And Usama
has a plan to prepare other robots for other branches too. He is also planing
to enhance the functionality of taking orders from customers in future.
If we talk about the mechanical and electrical components
that has been used in the robot are completely made in Pakistan. Which is
really inspiring, he prepared the whole machine in such a short time and
limited resources.
